Carl Vernon Porter

Carl Vernon Porter, 57, of Watertown, Ohio, passed away on October 13, 2014 at Marietta Care and Rehab after a long illness.He was born September 16, 1957, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Herman R. and Nora J. Bennett Porter.Carl had served in the National Guard for seven years and had previously worked in the oil fields. He enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.He is survived by three sons, Carl E., Chris A. and Justin A. Porter; four sisters, Annie Edman, Princess Jenkins, Debbie Richards and Esther Porter; three brothers, Paul, Brady and Herman C. Porter; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Chester Mason.Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va. with Jim Lynch officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.Memorial donations may be made to Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in honor of Carl.
