Carl Denton Goodwin, 75, of Vienna, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Carl was born in Parkersburg, WV on October 18, 1950 to the late Clyde G. Goodwin and the late Thelma V. (Satterfield) Goodwin. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Jean E. (Whited) Goodwin and their children; Stephanie Conroy (Christopher) of Lancaster, PA, SFC. Shaun M. Goodwin of Petersburg, VA, and Kristin Moore (John) of Vienna. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, whom he adored; Kaelin and Braden Moore, of Vienna, WV and Dylan and Ella Conroy, of Lancaster, PA. Carl was also survived by a bonus daughter, Krystal Bush (Michael) of Abingdon, Maryland and her four children; Michael, Cassidy, Karsyn, and Luke.

Carl was a 1970 graduate of Parkersburg South High School. He began working as an auto mechanic, employed at Villers Motors in Vienna and Astorg Motor Co. in Parkersburg. In 1990, he and his family relocated to Camp Hill, Pennsylvania where he worked in maintenance for PA Pipe. Carl returned to the area in 1999, where he worked for and retired from Northwest Pipe. Carl was a faithful member of St. John United Methodist Church in Vienna.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Carl is survived by his brothers Michael (Marilyn) of Leesburg, FL, Roger (Candy) of Leesburg, FL, and Randy of Davisville, WV, and his sister, Diana (Rich) Davis of Little Hocking, OH. Carl was also very close to his wife’s family, including brothers Jerry Whited of Havre de Grace, MD, David (Darlene) Whited of Washington, WV, Richard (Sue) Whited of Chesapeake, VA and sisters Mila (David) Combs of Washington, WV and Priscilla Whited (Larry Yocum) of Parkersburg, WV. He will be lovingly missed by many nieces and nephews, as well. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his brother, Terry Goodwin.

Visitation will be held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna on Tuesday, May 26th from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM. Services will be held at St. John United Methodist Church in Vienna on Wednesday, May 27th at 1 PM followed by burial at Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to St. John United Methodist Church, 3911 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV 26105.
