Byron "Barney" R. Baker

Byron “Barney” Baker, 77 of Parkersburg went to Our Lord, February 1, 2018 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born May 28, 1940. He is the son of the late Melvin F. Baker and Bonnie Lucille Bennett Baker. He was married to the love of his life, Laura Nicolai Baker, Parkersburg for 54 years. Barney retired to spend the rest of his life with Laura. In addition to his wife, Barney is survived by one son, Christopher Baker of Parkersburg; three daughters, Catherine Baker Monasky (George) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Caroline Baker Wesolowski of Fishers, Indiana and Cassandra Baker Crawford (Mitch) of Fishers, Indiana; and four grandchildren, Halee Baker, Paige and Audrey Crawford and Sophia Monasky. Barney was a proud graduate of Parkersburg High School, class of 1958 and attended Glenville State College. He served in the Army and the Army National Guard of West Virginia, Company A 1092D Engineers. He was an ardent fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Reds. Barney loved coaching biddy basketball and little league baseball. He also loved listening to the radio. At his request, he will be cremated with no viewing. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 400 Green St. Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Food Pantry or a charity of your choice in his name.
