Burke Charles Westfall

Burke Charles Westfall, 94, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away on December 21, 2015 at his residence.He was born April 24, 1921, in Chapel, W.Va., a son of the late Jacob and Mary Beckett Westfall. Burke served in World War II as Sergeant Technician in the European Theatre but in his life Jesus Christ was number one. He served as an elder at Four Mile United Presbyterian Church besides numerous other tasks. After retiring from Westinghouse he took studies that allowed him to be commissioned as a lay pastor in the Beaver Butler United Presbyterian. He then went on to serve the Bridgewater Presbyterian Church as their pastor for 11 1/2 years. He retired from Westinghouse Electric Company with over 34 years of service and was a member of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church. He is survived by his three children, Thomas Westfall (Pam) of Willow Springs, N.C., Gilda Haddox of Parkersburg, and James Westfall (Terry) of Easley, S.C.; one brother, Dana Westfall of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Greg Westfall, Shelly Westfall, Ben Haddox, Mike Haddox, Travis Westfall, Tyler Westfall and Trey Westfall; and four great-grandchildren, Maddie Westfall, Greyson Haddox, Isaac Haddox and Jesse Haddox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Westfall; one brother; and five sisters. Funeral services will be held on 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., South Parkersburg with Pastor Joe Busch and Pastor Michael Haddox officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
