Heaven gained an angel today, November 21, 2017. Boyd “Butch” Long, born in Parkersburg, WV, July 20, 1935 went to be with our Lord and Savior. He loved his granddaughters, Carrie and Jessie immensely, always looking forward to their hugs. He was also a wonderful and loving father to Brian Long, Judy Keith (Ron) and Cindy Gregorich (Bryan). He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Vivian Long and his parents, Charles and Florence Long; siblings, Chuck, Don, Betty and Vera. Butch proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a supervisor for Borg Warner (G.E.) for thirty- three years. He retired at the young age of fifty five so he could enjoy his family and play golf. He became very good at the game, hearing his buddies laugh and joke was proof of that. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed life to its fullest. Alzheimer’s disease may have taken his mind but it didn’t take the love in his heart. He loved until his last breath. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Anthony Farr officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s foundation. There is a yearly walk. Please consider donating; families of loved ones with Alzheimer’s will be grateful for a cure one day.
