Billie Joe Cowan 87, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away December 26, 2016 at the Willows Center. He was born July 2, 1929 in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Arthur and Margarette Parks Cowan. Billie was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean war. He retired in 1985 from the E.I. DuPont Company as a foreman in the Teflon department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being on the river. He is survived by his wife, Helen Cavaney Cowan; three daughters, Deborah Hill (Mike) and Christi Shedd (Bill) both of Parkersburg, and Dedra Ruble (Dave) of Belpre, OH; one son, Billie J. Cowan II (June) of Parkersburg; one sister, Pat Creighton of Beckley, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Mickie Jo Cowan White; one sister, Betty Cowan; and three brothers, James, Bob and Don Cowan. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south with Pastor Jim Yoak officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg. Services will begin with military honors by American Legion Post #15 of Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
