Betty worked as a manager at the Fat Boy's Restaurant formerly located in the traffic circle. She was a loving mommy and wife and was a member of Summitt Valley United Methodist Church.She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Russell “Jake” Jacob Varner; 10 children, Andrew Varner (Sandy), Dave Varner (Cyndi), Jeffrey Varner (Georginia), Vickie Tanner (Allen), Sherry Burcher, Ronnie Thompson (Sharon), Debbie Fenton (Fred), Russell Alan Varner (Amy), Joy Lynn and Betty Ellen (Joe); one brother, Randall Cline (Diane); 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, Rickie Thompson and Richard Thompson; two sisters; and one brother.Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. Jim Yoak officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.Saturday at the funeral home. Services will take place at a later date at Varner Cemetery, Summitt Road.Memorials may be made in Betty's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
