Betty Florence Modesitt Orem, 90, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away on October 8, 2014 at Carehaven of Pleasants County, W.Va.She was born on February 14, 1924 in Walker, W.Va., a daughter of the late Preston and Carrie Knight Modesitt.She was a 1942 graduate of Parkersburg High School. After graduation she worked for Brockway Glass, A&P Grocery, Harts in Marietta, Vienna Pharmacy and was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and loved visiting and talking with her friends at Carehaven where she belonged to the quilting club and the Golden Girls. Betty was a member of the People's Church of Boaz, was a member of the Eastern Star and loved and enjoyed her family.Betty is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Naylor and her husband, Bob of Parkersburg; one son, Rodney Orem and his wife, Becky of Scott Depot, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Missi Stanley and her husband, Chad of Parkersburg; two grandsons and their wives, Todd and Heather and Matt and Jada Orem of Scott Depot, W.Va. two step-granddaughters Leanna Wilson and Jacki Joyce both of Scott Depot; two great granddaughters, Brooke and Kaili Stanley of Parkersburg; two step-great-granddaughters Jaysa Wilson and Jaylee Shelton both of Scott Depot; and numerous nieces and nephews.Betty's family wishes to thank Carehaven of Pleasants for their wonderful care during her stay there.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll D. Orem in 2005; four brothers, Lawrence, Dennis, Clarence and Burnerd Wane Modesitt; and six sisters, Pearl Brown, Isa Modesitt, Beulah Harris, Dorothy Wiblin, Marie Picotte and Mary Mildred ModesittFuneral services for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Pastor Rick Kapple officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
