Betty Jackson

July 6, 1928 — June 18, 2020

Betty Kimble Jackson, 91, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on June 18, 2020, with family by her side. She was born in Belpre, Ohio on July 6, 1928, daughter of Earl and Goldie Stevens Kimble. She grew to adulthood in the home of Eskey and Bessie McCauley, of Cisco, Ritchie County, and graduated from Cairo High School in 1946. She married the late Oren R. Jackson on April 16, 1948 and was a navy wife for the next 16 years, living at times in Virginia; Puerto Rico; Rhode Island; and finally Key West, FL. In 1972, the couple returned to the Jackson family farm in Ritchie County, before moving to Parkersburg in 1991. Betty was a long-time, devout member of North Fork Baptist Church, and greatly cherished the time spent with her church family. She had an inner strength bolstered by her faith (and a bit of a stubborn streak). Her friends and family sustained her, and she in turn enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was thoughtful, generous, and selfless to a fault. She read her Bible devotedly, loved sweets, and enjoyed puzzles and British comedies. She is survived by daughters Cindy Maxwell and her husband Gainey of Miami, FL; Penny Nelson and her husband John of Advance, NC; and sons Andy Jackson and his wife Betsy of Fayetteville, GA; and John Jackson and his wife Lek of Blacksburg, VA; 8 grandchildren: Gainey O., Jennifer, Sean, Jana, Gillian, Dani, JT, and Katie; 7 great-grandchildren: Owen, Cody, Tim, Emily, Gyllian, Noah, and Wolfgang; and many nieces and nephews, including special nephew and niece Eugene and Sharon Dowler of Parkersburg, who provided much loving care and companionship through the years. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sisters Alice Dowler and Bessie Mason and brothers William Kimble, Jack Kimble, and Paul Kimble. Graveside services for Betty will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2020, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Cairo, WV, with Pastor Darrell Farley officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2020 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Betty’s Amedisys caregiver team; her medical team at Camden Clark and Ruby Memorial; with special thanks to her friends and neighbors Rick and Debbie Evans. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the North Fork Baptist Church, PO Box 357, Ellenboro, WV 26346. Due to the Covid 19 virus, the family requests that guests practice social distancing and the wearing of face masks . Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.lamberttatman.com.
