Betty M. "Caltrider" Dowler

April 6, 1933 — January 23, 2019

Betty M. Dowler, 85, of Parkersburg, entered the gates of heaven on January 23, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Betty was born April 6, 1933 in Wood County, WV, daughter of the late Carroll and Ora Caltrider. Betty married the love of her life, Lester (Frank) Dowler on July 9, 1949 and was married 65 wonderful years until Frank’s death in 2014. She retired from Stork’s Bakery and had worked at Camp’s Meat packing in her younger years. Betty loved flower gardening and baking. She was a member of Southside Southern Baptist Church. She is survived by three children, Terry (Kay) Dowler, Jeanne (Rusty) Phillips and Tim (Tina) Dowler all of Parkersburg; one son in-law, Ed Harris of Mineral Wells, WV; three brothers, Richard Caltrider of Kingwood, Ohio, Paul Caltrider (Virginia) of Zionwood, Indiana and Burl Caltrider (Patsy) of Grove City, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Jody (Don) Lindsey, Becky (Rod) Marks, Lindsey (Ronnie) Anderson, Josh (Lisa) Wiblin, Stephanie (Jason) Cox, Brian (Rebecca) Dowler, Sara (Simon) Schoenlein, Sonny (Shanon) Dye, Francis Merritt, Austin Dowler and Chris (Rachel) Ferry; 19 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Cameron, and Mallory Marks, Ayden, Sam and Jackson Lovell, Ava Anderson, Emily Dowler, Matthew and Seth Cox, Joslyn Wiblin, Lilly, Aubeny and Silas Dye, Aubrey and JJ Schoenlein, Nate and Nova Ferry and Logan Lindsey; several nieces and nephews and her loving cat, Scooter “Chuck” Dowler. The family would like to thank the Amedisys Hospice staff, caregiver Maureen Emerick and a very special thanks to her private nurse during the last weeks of her life, Josh Kerns. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Harris and granddaughter, Erica Lovell. Celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, south Parkersburg with Pastor Paul Drake officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 and one hour prior to services on Sunday at the funeral home.
