Betsy N. (Francis) Thomas, 70, of Boaz, W.Va., passed away peacefully on March 18, 2015, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.She was born October 29, 1944 in Danville, Va., daughter of the late James Howard and Bertha Jones Francis.After she was married she and her husband moved to Boaz, W.Va. where they lived happily for the last 50 years. As a woman of faith she was a member of the Boaz Baptist Church. She was a devoted Christian woman and instilled in all her children and grandchildren her love and belief in the Lord. Among serving the Lord, her greatest joy in life was her family.She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Russell L. Thomas and was a beloved mother of three children, Wanda N. Hescht (Paul) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Lucy Wilkison (Larry) of Boaz, W.Va., and Russell L. Thomas, Jr. (Jennifer) of Houston, Texas. She was an adoring grandmother to Megan (Hescht) Ridgway (Anthony) of Williamstown, W.Va., Ashley Greathouse of Boaz, Jon Thomas (Lexi) of Pittsburgh, Dustin Wilkison of Boaz, Sara Beth and Caleb Thomas of Houston, Texas and Josh Wilkison (Charity) of Belleville, W.Va.; she was a lovinggreat-grandmother to Wyatt and Harper Ridgway and Hope and Faith Wilkison; two surviving sisters, Joan Wray (Danny) of Danville, Va. and Iris Hankins also of Danville, Va.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.Our family would like to express our sincere thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Marietta Memorial Hospital and to her niece Ann Fore, who held her hand and listened to her every word, sang to her in her time of need, we thank you for your love and support.Services for Betsy will be held at 2:00 p.m. ,Saturday, March 21, 2015at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va., with Reverend Robert Alfred officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Cairo, W.Va. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
