Barbara Lea Brewer

Barbara Lea Brewer, 76 of Williamstown, W.Va., passed away May 11, 2016 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born March 29, 1940 in Spencer, W.Va. a daughter of the late Dillon and Alice Hickle Hicks. She graduated from Nicholas County High School in Summersville, W.Va. with the class of 1959. She formerly worked for Singer Sewing Machine and Waterbed World. She was a caregiver to many for several years. She was an active member of the Sand Hill United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the church council. Barbara served as Vacation Bible School Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, and nursery worker. She is survived by her husband, Don E. Brewer whom she married September 4, 1959; one son, Kenneth Alan Brewer of Williamstown; one sister, Rita Zelinka (Carl) of Winston-Salem, NC; three grandchildren, April Dawn, Amber Dawn, Richard Lee, Jr.; five great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Lee Brewer; and a sister, Janet Lanham. Funeral services for Barbara will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna with Reverend Dr. Gary Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Sand Hill United Methodist Church, 1295 River Road, Williamstown, WV 26187.
