Arthur “Art” “Jake” Rose, 94, of Little Hocking, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2016, surrounded by his family and friends, at his residence. He was born June 24, 1921 in Meigs County, Ohio, a son of the late John C. and Dora A. Bookman Rose. He was a graduate of the Chester High School class of 1938, retired from DuPont in 1982 after 32 years of service, and enjoyed farming, raising oxen, and pitching horseshoes. He was a member of the Porterfield Baptist Church, where he was a past trustee and a member of the Master's Helpers Sunday School class, a charter member of the Porterfield Community Association, a member of both the Wolfe Creek Horseshoe Association and the Parkersburg Horseshoe Association. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Agnes Bentz Rose; one son, Steven A. Rose (Patti) of Little Hocking; two grandsons, Jason A. Rose (Jessica) and Brian A. Rose (Tiffany); one step-granddaughter, Jessica Brinkman (Gary); two great-grandsons, Casey A. and Dalton A. Rose; seven step-great-granddaughters; one step-great-great-granddaughter; one step-great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucy Williams, Dorothy Willard, and Bertha Dye; and his brothers, Chester, Denver, and John “Doc” Rose. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd. Belpre, with Pastor Mark Eaton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Porterfield Baptist Church or the Porterfield Community Association. The family would like to thank CHS Hospice and their caregivers.
