Ann Sams Grimm, 80 of Vienna, passed away June 8, 2020 at Milestone Senior Living. She was born to Orville James and Pauline Varner Sams on May 29, 1940. Her family was small but their hearts were large; Aunts Ruth VanCamp (Eddie) of Parkersburg and Mardell Davis (Ted) of Akron, OH, and her grandparents Jack and Nettie Varner of Kellar Lane, Boaz, with whom she enjoyed spending time. All of her maternal family are deceased. Ann attended Nash Grade School then Washington Jr. High and graduated in 1958 from her beloved PHS. She was an ardent Big Red Band Booster and enjoyed many band trips as her son played the trombone at PHS football games, parades and many band festivals. Her father was in the Army during WWII and after returning to Parkersburg worked at Matheny International Motors. Ann’s first employment was as a secretary at Parkersburg News and Sentinel after graduation. Later she went to work for Guinn Motors Ford Tractor Dealership on Camden Ave. as a secretary-bookkeeper. There she met Kenneth Gary Grimm. They were married June 11, 1961 by Leon Matheny at North End Church of Christ. Ann drew her last breath two days before their 59th Anniversary. Ann worked for several years before she became a mother to two sons, Garrett Keith and Jason Lee. After the boys were grown she worked at Consumer Credit under June Shelene. Ann had a zest for life. She was a long time member of a Wood County Extension Homemakers Club. She prepared articles for the newspaper about extension activities and events for the club. Ann enjoyed many annual Extension retreats to Jackson Mills in Weston with her dear friend, Corolla Mowery. Ann completed many Club Projects and learned many skills. She did cake decorating, flower arranging, sewing clothes for her boys and decorating her home. Ann loved pictures and always had a camera at the ready. Ann was truly a homemaker. She had many lifetime friends. She enjoyed having friends in her home. She loved to travel: short trips, long trips in any direction for any reason. She was a lifelong member of the 36th Street Church of Christ. She was baptized by Lawrence Barker at Naish Springs Creek on August 12, 1956. Ann was an avid animal lover. She had four pets during her lifetime. Ann brought Cindy into their marriage, then Rusty and lastly Lisa Lee all three cocker spaniels. Later they adopted Taffy a Lhasa and Terrier mix. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations may be made to the Humane Society in Parkersburg, in Ann’s name and would be a welcomed tribute. Funeral services for Ann will be at 11:00 A.M.
