Andrew Burten Twyman

September 6, 1932 — September 15, 2024

Andrew Burten Twyman, 92, passed away on September 15, 2024 in Westerville, OH. He was born September 6, 1932, the first-born son of the late Henry Jennings Twyman and Lorraine Post Twyman in Elizabeth, West Virginia.

After graduating from Wirt County High School in 1951, he met the love of his life, Vera Elizabeth Allen.  After being drafted into the Army, he would frequently spend his free time traveling back to Parkersburg to see her. They eventually married on June 12, 1954.

After receiving his discharge from the Army in 1955, he began work again as an ironworker, a career that took him across the country.  Upon returning from work on the Los Angeles International Airport, he began attending classes at an electronics trade school and learned how to repair televisions and radios.  He started his own television repair business (Andy's TV & Repair Service) and worked evenings and weekends at this business while still ironworking.  In connection with the TV repair business, he self-constructed a building on Camden Avenue in Parkersburg, but soon thereafter he sold the building and the business.  In the early 60's he became an owner/operator of an Esso Service Station business on the corner of 7th and East Streets in Parkersburg until he sold the business to return to ironworking on a full-time basis.  In 1969 he was elected as the Financial Secretary for the Iron Workers Local 787 in Parkersburg, WV and he served in that position until 1987. In 1987 he was elected as the Business Agent for that union and he served in that position until 1990. He has been retired since 1990.

He is survived by his children, Larry Twyman (Cathy) of Galena, OH, Michael Twyman (Brenda) of Parkersburg and David Twyman (Candace) of Pickerington, OH, his 6 grandchildren, his 9 great grand-children, and his brother George.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera; his brothers Frank and Charlie and his sister Betty Conley.
