Alonzo Gibson, also known as Al, Bimbo, and Lonnie, age 73, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away on May 5, 2026, in Parkersburg.
Alonzo was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, to the late Nellie and Wesley Gibson. He was a devoted father who loved his large family dearly and was proud to be a true “mama’s boy.”
Throughout his life, Alonzo worked in many roles for Orkin Pest Control, and he continued pest control work even after retirement. Al attended Sams Creek Baptist Church and missed his church family in recent years.
Alonzo was well known for his wit, humor, and ability to make those around him laugh. He enjoyed gambling, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family, who meant everything to him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Katheryn Gibson; his children, Karla Trembly (Dan), Alonzo Gibson II (Tracy), and Barbara Ritchie (Wayne); seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Rocky Gibson (Sherry); and two sisters, Mary “Rose” Stewart and Barbara Williams (Jim).
In addition to his parents, Alonzo was preceded in death by 16 siblings.
Alonzo will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg, has been entrusted with Alonzo's final services and are honored to serve his family.
