Alice Aleta (Lea) Glover Brace passed away peacefully the morning of August 13, 2024 at the home of her daughter, Carrie L. (Brace) Tidd and family.
Aleta (Lea) suffered a stroke earlier this year and lived her remaining days surrounded with love and care from daughter, Carrie and three of her beloved grandchildren,; Sarah Eden (Edie) Tidd (23), Owen Nash Tidd (21) and Liam Zane Tidd (19).
Aleta (Lea) was a care-giver through and through, beginning a career as a certified nurses aide at Charleston Memorial Hospital after graduating from Sherman High School in Boone County, WV in 1963.
It was there she met, and three months later, married the love of her life and partner, John W. Brace of Marmet, WV. They celebrated a joyous 16 years of marriage until his sudden death at the age of 41.
Although Aleta (Lea) never remarried, she did continue to both care for, and give to those around her, in her family, within her friend group and church family, to those with whom she worked, to her neighbors, to the friends of her children and grandchildren and to absolute strangers who entered her life. She was known far and wide for having a loving heart and giving spirit and for being an incredible cook who loved to share her warm home, her generous spirit and her delicious meals with anyone who found their way to her home, even the many, many squirrels, birds, ducks, geese, deer and stray cats who ate lavishly in her front yard.
While it is true that Aleta (Lea) was a loving mother, her greatest pride and joy in this life lies within the hearts of her seven grandchildren. They filled her life with love and light.
Aleta (Lea) is survived by one son; John W. Brace II (Elizabeth), one daughter; Carrie L. Brace Tidd (Kevin), seven grandchildren; Miranda D. Brace, Nicholas B. Tidd, Nolan W. Brace, Eden (Edie) Tidd, Owen N. Tidd, Sara R. Brace and Liam Z. Tidd; two great-grandchildren, Asher Tidd and Octavia Tidd; two siblings, Kay Morrison and Larry Glover, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, David Bishop Glover and Thelma Gill Glover, Aleta (Lea) is also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 16 years, John W. Brace; seven siblings, Juanita Snead, David “Port” Glover, Louise Sowards, Arthur “Art” Glover, Jane Fulk and infant twins Russell and Ruth Glover.
A special thanks to the many wonderful friends and neighbors who loved and cared for her over the years. She loved them all and considered them family.
Gravedside services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Marmet Memory Gardens, Marmet WV, with Pastor Don Yeager officiating.
