John D. “Chief” Owens, age 72, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Tuesday August 3, 2010 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va. and was a 1956 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He served four years in the United States Air Force, retired after 27 ½ years of service to the City of Parkersburg Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief from 1978-1982. John was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, West Virginia University and NASCAR.
John is survived by two daughters, Susan L. Pratt (Ernie) of Paola, Kansas and Judith L. Owens of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Joshua Starr Pratt of Vancouver, Canada and Jordan Starr Pratt of Paola, Kansas; one great-grandchild, Tosh Starr O’Brien Pratt of Vancouver, Canada; and was a part of the Al Smith Gazebo Gang.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jean Starr Owens; his wife of 52 years, Ruth Ann Hathaway Owens who passed away August 20, 2008 and one brother, James R. Owens.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 400 Green Street Parkersburg with Rev. Dr. William R. Thomas officiating. In honor of John’s service to the Parkersburg Fire Department he will be transported to his final resting place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery upon Parkersburg’s Antique Fire Truck. The procession will pass beneath crossed ladders as they enter the cemetery gates. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Pastor Bill Melton Angel, 87, of Parkersburg, W.Va. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 30, 2010, at Parkersburg Care and Rehabilitation.
He was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late William "Bill" and Beulah Gilbert Angel.
Pastor Angel was a graduate of Logan High School. After working in the private sector for several years he surrendered to the call of the ministry and served as pastor for two years on the Elkins EUB Circuit, seven years on the Parsons EUB Circuit, five years at Rayon Drive EUB Church in Parkersburg and pastored from 1968 to 1995 at Grace Gospel Church in Pettyville. After his retirement from Grace Gospel, he continued as Pastor Emeritus and continued to teach Sunday school and lead singing.
He is survived by two daughters, Janice (Mike) Murphy of Piedmont, S.C. and Barbara (Gary) Martin of Washington, W.Va.; one grandson, Eric (Jill) Martin of Gallipolis, Ohio; and two great-grandsons, Isaac and Landon Martin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Davis Angel and his second wife, Lois L. "Jean" Angel; and one brother, Bobby N. Angel.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 at Grace Gospel Church in Pettyville with Pastor Mike Allen and Pastor Roger Benson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Dorothy Dawson Lovelady, of Vienna, W.Va., died December 29, 2010, at St. Josephs Hospital.
A longtime resident of Vienna, W.Va., Dottie was born November 4, 1927, in Old Hickory, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Bessie L. Dawson.
She was a Protestant by faith and a retiree of the Bureau of Public Debt. Dottie was an avid lover of sports, especially football, baseball, and Nascar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, her beloved son, Craig; and her husband of fifty-two years, Hugh H. Lovelady, Sr.
Dottie is also survived by a sister, Carolyn D. Hayford of Charleston, W.Va.; her daughter, Deborah D. Phillips and husband Brad of Vienna, W.Va.; her son, Hugh H. Lovelady, Jr. and wife Jan of Phoenix, Arizona; one beloved granddaughter, Amber Rae Mace and husband Kevin of Vienna, W.Va.; and her “babies”, her great-grandchildren, Charis Rae, Elias Matthew, and Calista Joy Mace.
Friends may call at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, W.Va. on Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8PM. Graveside services with burial will conclude services on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell, Virginia at 2PM.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers Stacy Duley, Joyce Wells, and Wanda Hart for their care, love, and kindness.
Our family would also like to thank the St. Josephs Hospital Surgical Services Department, Dr. Dominic Cottrell, the staff of the Intensive Care Unit, and a special thank you to Dr. Michael D. Roberts and Dr. William Cartwright for the love and care shown to our mother.

Madora Edith "Dorie" Riel, 80 of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Dec. 30, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 6, 1930 in Cumberland, Md., a daughter of the late Franklin and Mary Ellen Boser Smallwood. Madora worked for 54 years cleaning homes and businesses while raising five children as a widowed mother. She was a hard worker and found joy in helping others. Her generosity was unsurpassed and although she never had much, she always provided for those in need. She resided at the Worthington Nursing Facility for most of the past year where she was a valued member of the Red Hat Club. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends and acquaintances.
Madora is survived by her five children, Jim R. Riel and wife, Pam, of Morgantown, W.Va., Francis Elaine Honaker of Vienna, W.Va., Karen Sue Riel of Parkersburg, W.Va., Teresa L. Rice and husband, Dave, of Boaz, W.Va. and Ronald Harvey Riel of Summerville, SC; one sister, Gladys M. May of Cumberland, Md.; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Riel; one brother, Frank Smallwood; and her sister-in-law and best friend, Juanita Trussell.
The family would like to thank Worthington Manor Nursing Facility for all of their loving care.
Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna with Pastor Rick Kapple officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Vevia B. Shepard Gorrell, 96, of Parkersburg, passed away on Dec. 31, 2010 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 26, 1914, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Marie J. VanFossen Shepard.
Vevia was formerly employed by the Wood County and Putnam County Board of Education as a cook and had worked at the American Viscose in the spinning room and as a cook. She was a member of The Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and belonged to the Star of Hope Circle.
She is survived by one daughter, Elma (Cecil ) Lang of Parkersburg; five grandchildren, Vicki D. (Brent) Viers, Steven (Donna) Barker, Kevin (Cindy) Lang, Mary Ann (Barry) Dickerson, and Wayne Gorrell Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Kia Viers Hoops, Amber Viers, Chase and Page Lang, Elizabeth Ann Dickerson and Stephanie Bryant; and three great-great-grandchildren, Addison and Carter Hoops and Mia Bryant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Gorrell; one son, Wayne R. Gorrell; one granddaughter, Kimberly Barker; two brothers, Earl B. Shepard and Harold D. Shepard; five sisters, Gertie Grimm, Ruby Deem, Dora Hayes, Elma Wamsley and Garnet and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 3 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 10th and Thomas St., south Parkersburg with Pastor David Stilgenbauer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg.

Anna Lea Houghton White, 75, died December 27, 2010 at home, in Elizabeth, W.Va., surrounded by her family and friends, fighting a battle with cancer.
She was born May 10, 1935, in Braxton Co., W.Va., the daughter of the late Flem and Avis (Dobbins) Houghton.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dorvin B. White Sr. and brother, Cledith Houghton.
She retired from the Bureau of the Public Debt in 1990 with thirty-two years of service. Anna enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting, bluegrass music, and her granddaughter. She was a loving, giving person that touched many lives.
She is survived by her son, Dorvin B. White Jr. (Junior) and wife Jeanette; one granddaughter, Danielle Joanna of Elizabeth, W.Va. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lou Carte, three nieces, Lisa Young, Beverly Young, and Theresa Rose, all of Braxton Co., W.Va.; and several very special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Friday December 31, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Pastor Everett Snyder officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-8PM on Thursday December 30, 2010, at the funeral home.

Barbara Ann Keith, also known as Mama Barb or Nana by many, of Rockport, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2010 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. She was 65 although always claimed to be “29”.
She was born March 17, 1945, in Crossville, Ala., a daughter of the late Jewel and Mae Bell Atchley.
She was best known for her sense of humor, caring heart, and sweet Alabama accent. There are no words that can fit in a few paragraphs that can explain how special and important she was to everyone who knew her. Loved by all, she was truly an angel among us. She loved to crotchet, read, and watch hummingbirds from her front porch in the summertime.
She was formerly employed at Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Mineral Wells as hostess and also trained servers.
She is survived by her husband, David Keith; three daughters, Teresa Starkey of Parkersburg, Seanna Allman and Alan Holmes of Mineral Wells, and Christie Keith, of Parkersburg; two brothers, Kenneth Atchley of Albertville, Ala. and Gary Atchley of Chattsworth, Ga.; one sister, Patsy (Calvin) Noblitt of Chattsworth, Ga.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and also many other family members and friends who were more like family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Barry Starkey; and her grandson, Aaron Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 1, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, at the funeral home.

Robert Davis Wilcox, 72, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away on December 25, 2010 at his residence.
He was born July 23, 1938, in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late Clem and Ivy Pearl Miller Wilcox.
Robert retired after 42 years of service from Corning Glass. He loved serving God, spending time with his family and many friends, and camping and fishing in the West Virginia Mountains. He also enjoyed farming and hunting and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Pettyville United Methodist Church where he had served as youth counselor and Sunday school teacher.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret Deskins Wilcox; one daughter, Ann C. Wilcox of Washington, W.Va.; three sons, Robert D. (Angie) Wilcox of Slate, W.Va., Paul Douglas (Tonya) Wilcox of Washington, and John D. Wilcox of Millwood, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Timothy Dalton Wilcox and Kathrine Dawn Wilcox, both of Washington; two brothers, C. Dale (Sherry) Wilcox of Mineral Wells and Paul David (Nancy) Wilcox of Parkersburg; and his cat, Molly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Wilcox.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 1:00 p.m. at Pettyville United Methodist Church with Pastor Philip P. Prunty officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Theta D. Myers, age 81, resident of Parkersburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 25, 2010 at The Willows Center in Parkersburg. She was born on September 14, 1929 in Salem, WV, a daughter of the late Durward G. Hopkins and Bertha Francis Hutson Hopkins.
She was employed by the WV Bureau of Employment Compensation for nineteen years and was also a member of the Vienna Woman’s Club and the Williamstown Woman’s Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Marsa C. Myers of Morgantown; two sons, William G. Myers (Melinda) of Lubeck, Neal R. Myers (Denise) of Waverly; one sister, Bryana Kaye Burns (Bob) of Bethel, Ohio; three grandchildren, Sarah R., Joshua and Luke Myers; one great grand-daughter, Lillian Grace Myers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Durward “Bud” Hopkins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home-Vienna, with Reverend Sandy Runion officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Phillip R. Smith Sr., 64, of Vienna, W. Va., formerly from Zanesville, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Christmas Eve at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born on August 22, 1946 in Zanesville, Ohio, and was the son of Edward and Hazel Smith.
He was a Vietnam Veteran with the Marines and retired employee from Borg Warner/GE Plastics. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and he enjoyed quality time watching his grandchildren in their various sports. He was loved by many and feared by none because of his engaging personality. He, also, along with his wife, Sheryl, raised their granddaughter, Cassie.
Phillip, Sr. is survived by his wife, Sheryl Ann (Sheppard) Smith of 41 years. He is, also survived by his four children; Crystal (Byron) Meeks of Parkersburg, Phillip R. (Denise) Smith Jr. of Belpre, Ohio, James E.C. (Angie) Smith of Marietta, Ohio, and Michael L. (Rita) Smith of Vienna, W.Va.; ten grandchildren, Cassie Smith, Dakota, Drake and Dawson (Tank) Meeks, Jennie, Alesha, Sheldon and Rodney Smith, Zachary Loscar and Rebekah Smith.
Also surviving are Donald and Patty Sheppard Sr. of Zanesville (his mother and father-in-law), Jerry and Pam Shank of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Donald and Karen Sheppard Jr. of Zanesville; along with four brothers and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Edward and Hazel Smith; a sister, Elizabeth Marie Smith; and his aunt, Beatrice M. McIntire.

Dean Ludwig Bee, 54, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away peacefully on Friday, December 24, 2010, after a short illness at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 15, 1956, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Georgia Mae Hartley Bee and the late Paul D. Bee.
He graduated from Parkersburg Beauty College, worked as a barber, and was previously employed by Murray Sheet Metal.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by four brothers, David (Patsy) on Mineral Wells, Danny, Dana (Tonya), James (Krista), all of Parkersburg; one sister, Markey Bee of Florence, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Donna Bee.

She was born November 22, 1951, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Earl Sr. and Lucille Simmons Boyce.
Surviving are three sons, Tom Campbell and fiance' Christina, Donald Campbell, and Richard Campbell, all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one sister, Mary Wilson and husband Daniel of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and four grandchildren, Jacob Thomas, Chloe and Leighton Campbell, and Devon Mossor.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Jr. "Butch", Darryl, and Williams Boyce.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2PM Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, W.Va., with Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Dawn completed her life in Houston, Texas, passing away December 15, 2010. She was the daughter of Donald L. and Gail J. Rymer. She was a 1987 Warren High School graduate. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Marietta College and her Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Ohio University. She completed her Ph.D. in Chemical/Bioengineering at Texas A&M. While at Texas A&M, Dawn did research on Prion diseases, such as Alzheimer’s, Mad Cow Disease, etc. She was selected to present at the International Conference on Alzheimer’s Disease.
Following her education, Dawn was employed by Exxon Mobile, in Upstream Information Technology, Research Application and Development, where she continued to work.
Dawn is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honorary, Phi Beta Kappa, American Mensa, the American Chemical Society and other professional organizations. She was active in the Vasculitis Foundation. Dawn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Dawn is survived by her fiancé, Ivan Scheffler; her parents, Donald and Gail; her sister, Lesley Sills of Palm Coast, Fla.; her niece, Madeline Sills; her paternal grandmother, Betty Rymer; her aunt, Evelyn Clifton (JB Clifton); her uncle, Gary Rymer (Margie); and several great aunts, great uncles and cousins. She leaves behind her beloved cats, Katish and Bartholomew.
Dawn was preceded in death by her grandfather, Guy Rymer; her grandparents, Edna and Cliff Grossenbaugh; her paternal aunt, Kay Windland; and her beloved St. Bernards.
Dawn fought a long and courageous battle against vasculitis. She was a great inspiration to many. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vasculitis Foundation or the First Presbyterian Church (Parkersburg) Christmas Day Dinner. A celebration of Dawn’s life will be 2 p.m., Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 1305 Washington Blvd., Belpre, Ohio. Mary Alice Wiblin Mary Alice Wiblin, 89, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born May 18, 1921 in Schell, WV, a daughter of Leonard and Mary Ellen Paugh. She was a member of the Seventh Street United Methodist Church. Mary was a homemaker and liked crocheting.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Chipps of Titusville, FL; four sons, Randy Wiblin (Katie) of Coolville, OH, Richard Wiblin of St. Cloud FL, Ronald Wiblin (Myrtice) of Crestview, FL and Donald Wiblin (Linda) of Parkersburg, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Clair L. “Dudley” Wiblin and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green Street, Parkersburg, WV with Pastor Greg Myers officiating. There will be a private interment for the family. Visitation will be 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Matilda L. “Tillie” Broadwater, age 97, long time resident of Vienna, WV. passed away peacefully Thursday, December 23, 2010 at The Inn at Marietta. She was born June 23, 1913, in Buckhannon, WV, a daughter of the late Frank Otis and Liza Jane Wise Leonard.
She graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College. She was a retired Math teacher at Jackson Junior High School for 17 years. She was a member and past president of P.E.O. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Parkersburg, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, church secretary and served on various boards.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Pitchford (Stev) of Vienna; three sons, Ashford Broadwater II “Bus” (Carolyn) of Vienna, Leonard Broadwater of Tollgate, WV and Bill Broadwater (Janet) of Vienna; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ashford Broadwater Sr. and one sister Orella Rhodes.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home-Vienna, with Reverend Rich McClure officiating. Visitation will be 3-6:00 P.M., Sunday, and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Macel was a homemaker and enjoyed her family, especially her grandsons.
Surviving is one daughter, Linda Province of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one son, Donald Dawson and wife Lois of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; four sisters, Naomi Gilmore of Parkersburg, W.Va., Midge Liddle, also of Parkersburg, W.Va., Wanda Barr and husband David of Washington, W.Va., and Maribelle Daugherty, also of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three brothers, Earl Daugherty and wife Freda of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Bill Daugherty and wife Charlene of Whipple, OH, and Frank Daugherty of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Paul Province and wife Ashley of Washington, W.Va., and Adam Province and wife Sunni of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Province of Mineral Wells, W.Va.

He was born July 17, 1939 in Wood County a son of the late Gertha and Carrie Lutz Buchanan.
Mr. Buchanan was a self-employed truck driver and mechanic and enjoyed working on cars and trucks.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Buchanan, 2 daughters; Mary Posten and Carrie Malone both of Parkersburg. 3 step-daughters; Michelle George and Betty Boram of Parkersburg and Lavilla Adams of Walker. 4 step-sons; David Boram of Waverly, Steven Boram of Walker, Gordon Boram of Phillipi and Michael Boram of Deerwalk. 2 sisters; Hazel Cline and Delma Moore both of Parkersburg, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary Malone Buchanan, and a brother Ernest Buchanan.

Rita Marie Mathews Bowen, 58, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010, at her residence.
She was born October 20, 1952, in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late William L. and Rita Francis Donahue Mathews.
Rita graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Pittsburgh, PA, graduated Cum Laude from Ohio University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with majors in Accounting and Business Law. She became a licensed CPA in 1989, and had practiced in the Parkersburg-Marietta area for fifteen years before joining the firm of McDonough, Eddy, Parsons & Baylous Certified Public Accountants.
She was a twenty year member of the Zonta Club of Parkersburg, served on the Henry Logan Board of Trustees, served as treasurer of the Wood County Society and was a member of the AICPA National and West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Rita was a member of the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and was a kind and caring person who will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Lee Bowen; a son, Charles W. Almond of Vienna, W.Va.; one sister, Margaret “Peggy” Watson (Greg) of Pittsburgh, PA; one grandson, Jason Almond of Vienna, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Harold retired from O’Ames Company and was also a veteran of the US Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.

He was born December 28, 1943 in Parkersburg a son of the late Ernest and Elsie Meredith Barber.
Scott was a 1962 graduate of Parkersburg High School, had served with the 1092 Army National Guard, belonged to the Masons, was retired from E. I. Dupont as a mechanic and enjoyed the outdoors and Gunsmith work.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff ( Jeanna) Barber of Parkersburg, W.Va., and John ( Nichole) Barber of Nicholasville, KY.; one daughter, Rebecca Barber of Georgetown, KY; and four grandchildren, Haley, Cameron, Alli and Hayden Barber.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Richard Barber and one sister Virginia Ann Barber.

Charles Melvin Hall, 88, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Dec. 15, 2010 at the Arbors of Marietta.
He was born October 31, 1922, in Wirt County, W.Va., a son of the late Charles M. and Lilly Grace Williams Hall.
Charles was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, formerly worked at FMC and retired from the WV Department of Highways. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Geraldine B. Shrader Hall; two sisters, Cora Boggs and Evelyn Copeland, both of Elizabeth, W.Va.; one brother, Randall Hall of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews, including Darrell Shrader, his caregiver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

She was born January 6, 1926 in Adams Township, Ohio a daughter of the late Hazel and Constance Burke Butler. She was retired from Kardex-Reno as a press operator, had also worked at the Elks Club and Winans and was a member of the Sheet Metal Union of Reno. She enjoyed gardening, loved her pets and was a devoted caregiver.
Evelyn is survived by a son, Alonzo Jewett and his wife, Ryann of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Kenan Brashear and Mayya Jewett of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Johnnie Mae Butler; niece, Connie Calhoun of Canton, Ohio; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marold Jewett; brothers, Raymond and Charles Butler.

She is survived by her son, Richard Joseph Duckworth of Sunrise, Florida; a great-niece, Melissa Varner of Parkersburg and her children Haley Brooke Varner (9 years old), Hannah Nicole Brown (7 years old), and Hunter Michael Todd Nutter (5 years old); and her friend and caregiver, Kathy Downey.

He is survived by his wife, Robin M. Myers Cox; two sons, William L. (Kimberly) Cox of Parkersburg and Brian R. (Lori) Cox of Florida; three step-daughters, Wendy Nelson of Parkersburg, Megan Nelson of Mineral Wells, and Morgan Nelson of Parkersburg; two step-sons, Eric Nelson of Parkersburg and John Nelson of Mineral Wells; three sisters, Betty (Ron) Watson and Debra K. William Theodore “Ted” Romine, 96, of Parkersburg, W.Va. died December 12, 2010 at his residence.
He was born October 14, 1914, at Zona, Roane County, W.Va., a son of the late James Theodore and Mary Eldore Jeffries Romine.
Ted was a graduate of Spencer High School (1934), Glenville State College (1940), and West Virginia University-Morgantown (1948). He worked as a public school teacher and principal for forty-four years: Roane County (19), Kanawha County (5), Wood County (11), and Marietta City Schools (9).
He has been a member of the Broadway Church of the Nazarene since January 1998. Prior to that, had been associated with the United Methodist Church for many years. He was a long-time member of the Parkersburg South Gideon Camp and the Fort Neal Kiwanis Club. He had been a district lay leader and a certified lay speaker for the United Methodist Church, Parkesburg District. He was chosen Parkersburg District “Layman of the Year” (1984) and West Virginia Conference “Layman of the Year” (1988). He was appointed Kiwanis “Layman of the Year”, West Virginia District in (1977). He was appointed a George F. Hixson Fellow by Kiwanis International (March, 2000). He is a member of the Wood County Retired Administrators Group.
Ted joined the Parkersburg Toastmasters Club #2891 in 1968 and has been a member for 42 years. He was a recipient of the Toastmaster International Distinguished Toastmasters Award (DTM) in 1977. On Oct. 4, 2006 the club was renamed the Ted Romine Toastmasters Club. He was an honorary lifetime member of the West Virginia Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) (1968). He is a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mozella (Matics) Romine; three daughters, Rebecca(Albert) Scott of Vienna, Lois Miller of Parkersburg, and Frances (Richard) Egnor of Parkersburg; two sons, Roger Jeffrey Romine of Parkersburg and William Michael (Margie) Romine of Grove City, Ohio; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Campbell; five sisters; and three brothers.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Broadway Church of the Nazarene, 9901 Broadway Ave., Parkersburg with Rev. Bill Hines officiating. She was born December 23, 1916 in Marietta, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edward and Harriett Huffard Dye. Ethel was a 1934 graduate of Marietta High School and owned Pinecone Artistry for over 40 years. She was a member of the Sandhill United Methodist Church, and a member of the Homemakers (CEOS) Club. She enjoyed traveling, visiting twenty seven countries and taking thirteen adventurous cruises.
Ethel is survived by one daughter, Judith Sells Knisley of Marietta, Ohio; two sons, Larry Duke (Becky) of Dallas, Texas and Paul Duke (Robin) of Williamstown, W.Va.; four sisters, Freda Frey of Parkersburg, W.Va.., Kay Hedrich (John) of Clearwater, Florida., Shirley Lockhart of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Carolyn Ricker of Richmond, Va; one brother, Clarence “Tip” Dye (JoAnn) of Clarington, Ohio; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was born in Elizabeth, W.Va., a daughter of the late Harry Chapman and Bertha Mae Criss Law. Kitty was a homemaker who loved to read and write stories. She was an exceptional artist. Kitty loved her family and extended her love out into the community as a caregiver to those who needed help.
She is survived by her husband of 53years, Thomas B. Koerner, Sr.; four daughters, Susan Bee (David Roy), Katherine Koerner, Linda L. Smith (Mitchell) all of Parkersburg, W.Va. and Dawn Michelle Blair of Georgia; one son, Thomas B. Ronald D. Oman, 73, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on December 8, 2010 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 19, 1937, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Arlo J. and Vesta M. Cale Spencer.
Ronald was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and retired from G. E. Plastics where he worked in production. He was an avid bowler at Ren Dor Lanes and a member of the 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church.
He is survived by his wife Barbara J. Hornbeck Oman; a daughter, Beverly (Robert) Eason of Pomeroy, Ohio; a son, Mike (Kelli) Oman of Parkersburg; a sister, Marlene (John) Toncray of Belpre, Ohio; grandchildren, Ashley and Anna Oman, Jessica Malone, Erin Andrews, Rod and Derick Drain and Amanda Eason; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Oman; sister Shirley Carter; and an infant twin brother, Donald.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, at the 14th Avenue Gospel Mission Church, south Parkersburg with Pastor Tim Burch and Tom Leasure officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg.

Sandra Louise “Sandy” Walcutt, 59, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away on December 4, 2010, at Trinity Hospital in Minot, N.D.
She was born August 26, 1951, in Rugby, N.D., a daughter of Marcella Duchscherer Wolf of Minot, N.D. and the late Edward Wolf.
Sandy was employed for 35 years at Fluharty and Townsend Law Offices as a Legal Secretary. She enjoyed her family and grand-children and was a very giving person.
In addition to her mother, Sandy is survived by her husband, Larry G. Walcutt; four children, Amanda Haynes and Stacy (Aaron) Stewart of Parkersburg, Daniele (Gary) Stull of Vienna, and Shaun (Rachiel) Walcutt of Rockport; sister, Debbie (Jim) Parrish of New Carlisle, Ohio; three brothers, Ronald (Joni) Wolf of Fargo, N.D., Edward (Tammy) Wolf and Brian (Polly) Wolf of Minot, N.D.; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Cassie, and Alyssia Walcutt, Isebella Haynes, Austin and Madison Stewart, Gary Stull III, Nicholas and Dakota Stull.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, December 11, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg with Jim Lynch officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00–9:00 p.m. Friday, December 10, at the funeral Home.

William “Bill” Marion Copley, 76, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away December 2, 2010, at his residence.
He was born November 23, 1934, in Pike Co., Ohio, a son of the late Joshua and Liza L. Smith Copley.
Bill retired as a Master Sergeant with the United States Marine Corp. He was a former member the Vienna Civitan Club, Fraternal Order of the Police, and the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, hunting, fishing, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. He was also a member of the Vienna Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon, and was a member of the Board of Trustees and the Usher Board.
Surviving is his loving wife, Juanita Malone Copley; two daughters, Angela Raley of Vienna, W.Va., and Andrea Martin of Fayetteville, NC; one son, William “Bill” Copley Jr. (Suyin) of Draper, Utah; his grandchildren, Starra Stilgenbauer (Daniel) and Misty Martin, both of Vienna, W.Va., William Ryan Copley, currently serving his country in the US Navy in San Diego, CA, Matthew Copley (Krista), currently serving his country in the US Air Force in Wichita Falls, TX, Bobbie Martin of Hoboken, NJ, Morgan Raley of Vienna, W.Va., and Mia and Caleb Copley, both of Draper, Utah; his great-grandchildren, Kayla Stilgenbauer, Mikhaela Martin, Zxavian Martin, Javah Allen, Walker Stilgenbauer, Karmani Martin, Landin Copley; and Cadin Wingert; two sisters, Sharlene Rockwell and Linda Remy, both of Waverly, OH; and two brothers, Sherman Copley of Alabama, and Raymond Copley of Lucasville, OH.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Freida Copley; and one brother, Arthur Lee Copley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1PM Monday December 6, 2010, at the Vienna Baptist Church, Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Rev. Bill Brown and Rev. Dennis Pratt officiating and full military rites conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Interment will follow at the Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-8PM on Sunday December 5, 2010, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna.
Memorial contributions may be made to Amedysis Hospice, The Ronald McDonald Children’s Charity, or The Nemesis Shriners Club. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

Brian Mitchell Fleming, 41, of Vienna, W.Va., passed away on December 3, 2010 at his residence.
He was born March 5, 1969, in Parkersburg, a son of Kathy Brewer Fleming of Vienna and the late Ronald Fleming.
Brian was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and was a Maintenance Supervisor for the WV Masonic Home. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and watching football and baseball.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Kathy Brewer Fleming and Roger Smith of Vienna; his wife, Debbie Hill of Vienna; his step-daughter, Dreama Hinton of Harman, W.Va.; two step-grandchildren, Dylan and Sierra Hinton of Harman; sister-in-law, Donna Hut-ton (Brad) of Elkins; brother-in-law, Ralph Jr. Hamrick (Becky) of Harman; father-in-law, Ralph Hamrick of Elkins; one aunt; two uncles; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with Chaplain Gary Saler officiating. Interment will follow at Wasp Cemetery in Pleasants County, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home.

Ryleigh Illeen Hawk passed away at birth on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Parkersburg, W.Va.
She was the daughter of Michael M. and Natasha L. Pickens Hawk of Waterford, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Ryleigh is survived by her brother, Kaleb M. Hawk; her maternal grandparents, Bonnie & Bill Schrebe, of Belpre, Ohio; her paternal grandparents, Betty & Alvin Jett, of Cleveland, Ohio; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 at Calcutta Cemetery in Pleasants County, W.Va. with the Reverend Will Neff officiating.

Shelby J. Crites, 54, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 25, 1956, in Webster County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ulon and Emma “Peggy” Crites.
Shelby was a loving mother and found joy in all those around her. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary as well as the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her life-long companion, Bill Matheny; one daughter Anna Matheny, of Parkersburg; two brothers, Carl “Chick” (Donna) Crites of Mineral Wells, and Blaine Crites of Parkersburg; six sisters, Martha (Jack) Buckley of Vienna, Cheryl (Tom) Stone of Kentucky, Pam (Bob) Lovell of Parkersburg, Garnet (Richard) Leone of Maryland, Edith (Bob) Forshey of Parkersburg and Ula (Rick) Starcher of Washington, W.Va.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Rodney Crites.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Rev. Keith Hostutler officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Mineral Wells. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Aleen Y. Poske, 84 of Vienna, WV. Passed away Sunday Nov. 28, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg.
Aleen was born May 27, 1926 in Parkersburg the youngest daughter of the late Shahaday P. and Raumia Lehmer Fahad.
She attended St. Xavier School, Parkersburg High School , and Mountain State Business College. In addition to working for her parents, she was employed by Rector Insurance Agency, and Manager of the Hickman Credit Clothing Store.
Aleen was active in the Boy Scouts of America, troop leader, trainer and Day Camp Director of the Girl Scouts of America. A member of the Vienna Recreation and Improve ment Association, Vienna Tennis Association, and served on the Vienna United Appeal. She was a charter member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Vienna, and a member of the Ladies Guild, served on the Parish Council and the Parish Activities Committee.
In 1951 she married the late William H. (Bill) Poske Jr. and together they had 4 wonderful children who survive. David W. Poske and wife Charity of Parkersburg, J. Carl Poske and wife Vera of Ponte Vedra, Fla.,Margaret L. Duncan and late husband Mike of Fleming, Ohio, and Robert M. Poske of the family home.
She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and son-in-law, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Margaret, Mary, Katherine, Luzinne, and Runjis. 2 brothers Gregory and Peter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday Dec. 2, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna, with The Very Reverend Joseph Peterson, V. F. officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Caramel Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Rosary Service at 8:00pm.

Richard “Dick” Sutton, 58, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away early Thursday morning November 25, 2010 at his residence.
He was born January 23, 1952 in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late Albert M. and Jeanette Star Sutton.
Dick graduated from Parkersburg High School with the class of 1969. He then went on to college where he received his degree in hair styling and cosmetology. Dick traveled extensively around the country learning and perfecting his skills as a hair stylist. He owned and operated his own hair salon for several years in Parkersburg.
Dick is survived by his life-partner, David Hornbeck of Parkersburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Alida Sutton of Cairo, W.Va., Charlene Sutton of Columbus, Ohio, and Cathy Rumer of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
In honoring Dick’s wishes there will be no visitation or services. However, there will be a gathering of family and friends at his residence from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 to celebrate the life of Richard “Dick” Sutton.
Memorial contributions may be sent to any Community Bank in Parkersburg where an account has been opened to help with expenses.

Elizabeth Violet Hudson Lawrentz, age 75 of Washington, W.V. passed away November 25, 2010 at the St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born June 13, 1935, in Pittsburgh, P.A. a daughter of the late Raymont and Genevive Stawski Hudson. Elizabeth had worked as a veterinarian assistant in her early Pittsburg years and later worked with Peoples Life Insurance and Dr. Woofters office in Parkersburg. She was a homemaker, a home room and PTA mother at Lubeck and Blennerhassett Schools, a Cub Scout Leader, was Catholic by faith, and a loving friend to many.
She is survived by three sons; James Madison Lawrentz III, David J. Lawrentz and Gregory S. Lawrentz all of Washington, WV; two grandchildren Jamie Lynn Lawrentz and Hannah Renee Lawrentz; two sisters Patricia Consalvo of Altoona, PA. and Bille Garrison of Littleton, CO.; one brother Howard Hudson of Plainfield, Mass., several nieces, nephews, cousins and caregivers she dearly loved and a special friend Robin Steele of Parkersburg.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband James M. Lawrentz, Jr., and one brother Raymond Hudson.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home 2333 Pike St. south Parkersburg with Steve Fuchs officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Wilbur Howell Schenerlein Jr., 76 of Parkersburg, W.Va., formerly of Follansbee, W.Va., passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 25, 1934 on Wheeling Island, W.Va., the son of the late Wilbur and Ruth Howell Schenerlein.
Wilbur was a 1953 graduate of Follansbee High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army upon graduation. He retired from G.E. Plastics in 1996 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Wilbur was an avid sports fan. His greatest passion was watching his children and grandchildren participate in athletic activities as well as watching sports and spending time with his buddies at the 19th St. Country Club.
Wilbur is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, JoAnn Rea Schenerlein; daughters Rhea Guice (John Hammer) and Sondra Wallace (Wally) all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; sons, Bob Schenerlein (Karen) of Nashville, Tenn., Scott Schenerlein (Chris), and Scheny Schenerlein (Jane) all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Patty Eastham and Lola Bullock both of Follansbee, W.Va.; several nieces and nephews and his dog Corky.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Abdi Ghodsi and the nurses in the St. Joseph’s ICU and SCU.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Arok Sundar, OFM officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave. Vienna, W.Va.

Juanita Chichester, 86, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away November 24, 2010, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 13, 1924, in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Obra K. and Elma Janie Parrish Hall.
Juanita was a homemaker and had also been her husband’s helpmate on their farm. She especially enjoyed her family and cooking.
Surviving is one daughter, Joyce Richards of Belpre, OH; three sons, Kevin, Rick, and Douglas Chichester (Charlene), all of Parkersburg, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Roy Chichester on July 3, 2006; two sons, Virgil Chichester Jr. and Keith Kuhn; and one brother, Kenneth Hall.
Private services will be conducted at the convenience of the family at a later date. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, is assisting the family with arrangements.

David W. “Diesel” Reed Jr., 46, of Williamstown, W.Va., passed away November 21, 2010, at St. Josephs Hospital.
He was born October 8, 1964, in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of the late David William Reed Sr. and Ellen Marshall Reed Anderson of North Hills, W.Va.
David owned and operated Diesel Logging Company and was a certified diesel mechanic. He especially enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter. David was a Christian, being raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he is a longtime member and had recently been attending Crossroads United Methodist Church.
